Portugese Restaurant

Every Friday and Saturday, special buffet dinners are on offer at two prominent restaurants opposite each other on the strip: Marisqueira O Portugese and D’Jungle.

After checking both places we easily decided that the more appealing choice was D’Jungle with its wide array of entrees including Visayan oysters, crabs and grilled scallops for PHP 295.00 ($US 6.50) per person was a great deal!

Here are a few pics of what is available on the buffet.

Aside from the tasty food, the interiors were quite cozy and well ventilated. The owner is a French/Belgian and was very courteous when dealing with his guests.

We tried practically all the dishes and when it came to the second round, we focused on the Visayan oysters, scallops, grilled fish, calamari fritti, french fries, crabs.

After the satisfying dinner we felt like partying for a bit, so we took our scooter and scooted off to Tickety Boo Resort which was a good 10 minute drive on the main road close to the Sta. Fe Pier. Within the Tickety Boo resort there is a bar called Rock Bottom that has a live band and reasonably priced drinks. Cocktails only cost PHP 50.00 ($US 1.00) and PHP 180.00 ($US 3.75) for a pitcher of draft beer!

Rock Bottom

When we first arrived at 9pm, there was no guests yet, but by 10pm the whole place was packed with people including the Mayor’s son, tourists and locals alike. We stayed until 11.30 pm and then drove back to the hotel to retire for the night.

We tried both buffets, you are right D’Jungle is way better, if only it was offered every night. Those visayan oysters were something else!

Last time i was there, there was no D’Jungle. I will make sure to check it out this November for holiday. Thanks for the information and updates on Bantayan.
