Hundred Islands – The Journey | Maxine by the Sea
We have heard so many wonderful things about the Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos, Pangasinan and it was well worth the trip due to the spectacular view from Governor’s Island, basking on the white sand beach of Quezon Island, absorbing the mysterious spirituality of Marcos Island, and immersing one’s self in a nature reserve like no other. Highly recommended for couples and families alike.

One does not even have to take a plane, all it takes is a sense of adventure and a 4-5 hour road trip with scenic views and surprisingly well paved roads.

Once passed the Hundred Islands sign on Macarthur Hi-Way it will start to get provincial with less cars on the road. For driving directions, please click here.

We arrived at the Hundred Islands Wharf around 4:00 PM and were glad to have made it without any difficulty.

There was a lighthouse in the background and people were just lazing around the area to enjoy the view.

The boats on the wharf were lined up after the trips they have done during the day.

At the corner of the wharf were a few kids looking out to the Hundred Islands.

After scouring the area for a decent hotel, there was only one that seemed appealing to due to the massive development, large parking lot, and closeness to the wharf. It was the Vista De Las Islas Hotel a 2 minute drive from the main wharf.

Vista De Las Islas Room - PHP 2,000.00 ($US 45.00) for the night for an airconditioned room with TV, discounted from PHP 2,500.00.
For dinner, we went to the highly recommended sea front restaurant Maxine by the Sea. Due to the al fresco style double decker patio with a view of the Hundred Islands we could not help but reward ourselves with a nice cold brewsky. This restaurant is the largest restaurant in Lucap and could have easily have seated 200 people with an extensive menu that could satisfy a variety of palettes.

Crispy Pata PHP 330.00 ($US 7.00) – Whole Front Leg Hock, boiled tender, deep fried, crunchy and juicy = YUM

Breaded Pork PHP 190.00 ($US 4.50) – Pan Fried Breaded Pork Tenderloin with cucumber and tomato slices

Fried Boneless Bangus PHP 130.00 ($US 3.00) – Butterfly Cut, de-boned and marinated with vinegar, minced fresh garlic and ground corn pepper

Maxine’s Famous Calamares PHP 170.00 ($US 4.00) – Deep Fried Squid Rings in Maxine’s special Recipe.
After a crunchy and delectable dinner, we turned in for the night so we could wake up early for the adventure ahead.
Our next post is on Governor’s Island, please click here.
