Thirsty? Durian on the Go!
Have you tried Durian? It is an ethnic Filipino fruit from Davao that is commonly known in South East Asia as the King of Fruits due to its robust size, menacing thorny husk and pungent aroma. Rather than buying a whole durian which may range from PHP 250-600 and could take a week to consume, you may now easily buy it in shake form at one of Manila’s Fruit shake stands – Thirsty?

Thirsty is located primarily in SM Malls and offers fresh juices and fruit shakes at moderate prices. More importantly they have just started offering Durian shakes to the public starting at PHP 42.00 ($US 1.00) as it is in season!
Aside from the various nutritional benefits it is also known to be a powerful aphrodisiac.
What does it taste like? Well it has a rich yet smooth gloutinous texture with hints of almond and fried onion. It is definitely worth trying if you are in the Philippines.
One of our favorite travel hosts Anthony Bourdain, has said: “Its taste can only be described as…indescribable, something you will either love or despise. …Your breath will smell as if you’d been French-kissing your dead grandmother.”
