What exactly is the Buddha Bar concept, well simply speaking it is placing a “living area” within the confines of a bar and restaurant with a live DJ while ensuring that the cuisine is contemporary and service impeccable. By the time we arrived at 10PM, the Kalayaan Avenue was packed with parked cars so much so that it became a one lane roade, but fortunately to ease this dilemma of finding parking Buddha Bar offers complimentary valet parking.

Upon entering you will notice the high ceilings and a mezzanine that overlooks the dining area where a gigantic Buddha sits serenely.

The lighting has an amber hue and combined with the dark mahogany furniture, Khmer statues, decorated wood panels, plush gold and red fabrics unite to create an air of opulence.

We were greeted at the reception and seated at our table. Open bar was practically on everything and we happily sipped a few flutes of Tattinger Champagne before moving onto Belvedere Vodka sodas and their signature Ying Coconut Martini.

Their selection of food for the party pica pica was outstanding and surpassed our expectations. Highlights are as follows:

Tim Yap celebrated his birthday in his trademark flamboyant style at the Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom on Jan. 17, 2012. There are parties and there are events such as this that you truly remember because all the guests were handpicked and spirited to dress up for a madhatter themed ball. Join us for this event after the break!

The ball commenced at 9PM but being the Philippines, majority of guests arrived around 11PM including local TV personalities such as Ruffa Gutierrez, Borgy Manotoc, Georgina Wilson and JM Rodriguez.

There was Republiq, and now we attend the the rebirth of Embassy/Member’s Only as Prive Luxe Clubbing. The Grand Launch on October 8, 2011 was an uber success. The party was supposed to start at 10PM, and while people normally meander in at 11PM to be fashionably late, it was already packed to the brim by that time.

The creative director of Fashion Watch 2011 is Inno Sotto, with hair and makeup handled by Patrick Rosas.

During Fashion Watch 2011, a special complimentary set of canapes and cocktails are available for guests to enjoy.

We liked their smoked salmon on pumpernickel bread and cream cheese canape and foie gras terrine on toasted brioche and fig jam canape.

The Fashion Watch cocktail was a refreshing mix of sparkling wine, lychee, and rum.

WEDNESDAY July 13, 2011 was a day to remember as it was the FINAL PARTY for Embassy and probably one of the best parties of 2011. Opened in 2004 by visionaries Erik Cua, Jon Herrera and Tim Yap, it was the first and only super club in Manila since the demise of Euphoria, Orange, Mars and Faces. It was a phenomenal success that has lasted seven years providing fun filled hedonistic memories for thousands of clubbers, models, artists, businessmen and elite partyphiles. It also holds a special place in our heart as it is the place where we first met. Join us as we say farewell to Embassy!

We were provided with an invite the last time we came to Embassy for Natasha Chystsiakova’s Birthday and were eagerly anticipating the night ahead.

Embassy opened its doors for the last time at 10:00PM. The metal detectors still in pristine condition from the brawls, stabbings and shootings in recent years. When it first opened in 2004, who would have ever thought that there would have ever been a need. But as human nature and egos go somebody always has to prove they are carrying the biggest stick. Why can’t we all just get along?

Embassy was decked out in gold and it almost felt like another prom night without the “Eternal Flame”.

Greeted with an open bar from 10:00PM – 1:00AM, it was looking like another interesting night of mayhem and destruction.

We decided to start the night slow with some Cuervo shots… no actually that was probably our fourth drink for the evening after a few whiskey sodas and vodka tonics. Maybe that is why I don’t seem to remember what happened towards the wee hours. Tequila always seems like its a good idea earlier in the night but somehow always manages to bite you in the tush when you are past the point of no return. What is your Achilles’ heal?

It was difficult to reserve a table for the evening but we managed and some of our friends joined us – Mr. Oliver Mendez of Ascend Club fame.

By 1:00AM, Embassy partyphiles were pretty much sloshed with mush for brains, but lo and behold Tim Yap, master of ceremonies suddenly appears on stage to bring people back to sad reality that Embassy was a dream that blossomed into reality but as all good things come to an end will soon fade into our subconscious. Thank you for the memories and truly unforgettable moments.

Natasha Chystsiakova celebrated her birthday at Encore / Embassy Club in the Fort and it was interesting to revisit as we have not been back since Republiq opened in 2010.

Natasha Chystsiakova is our dear friend and a national of Belarus, a former Soviet Republic. She is an accomplished dancer having performed at the Wanders show at the PAGCOR Casino in Paranaque in 2009-2010. Currently she is a freelance dancer, model and photographer.

Natasha Chystsiakova also recently won first runner up for Slimmer’s World Great Bodies 2011 and is the cover girl for their marketing campaign.

By the time we arrived at Encore it was already packed as the promoters and DJ’s were gearing towards their farewell parties for Embassy.

We joined our friends Natasha Taranenko, Amir Huseynzade, and Ayana Badmaeva at a table that used to be part of Embassy’s old VIP section. Come to think of it we may have actually celebrated a birthday or two at the exact same table.

We were graciously offered a drink from the chosen bottles of Absolut Vodka and Jack Daniels. Vodka Cranberry, thank you very a much a great start to a birthday party.
